Tennis Elbow


   It is an inflammation of muscles, tendons or covering of bones at the elbow. It may occur due to repeated stress on the tissues that attack the forearm muscles to the elbow area or due to sudden stress on the forearm. It is in fact a joint injury.


Sign and Symptoms

  1.  Weak Grip
  2. Pain and tenderness (Weakness) over the joint, Pain incress  with gripping or rotation of forearm.
  3. Pain when twisting the hand and arm.  

Treatment

    No first aid is required in this case as injury develops slowly. However, a doctor should be consulted. Take medicines and follow doctors advice.


Rehabilitation  

  1. Use heat and relieve pain. Use warm soaks, a heating pad or a heat lamp.
  2. If necessary the diathermy, ultrasound or message treatment from the physiotherapy facility. 
  3. A forearm spint may be used to immobilize the elbow.
  4. Do prescribed exercises for rehabilitation when pain has decreased to an extant to permit light exercises.
